A private barn conversion completed over seven months.
The project transformed a derelict barn into a high-performing residential investment, improving both the building itself and its surrounding setting.
With limited original drawings and several unknowns uncovered during the strip-out phase, the build required close coordination with the structural engineer and building control to ensure the structure met current standards while supporting the new layout.
Works included a full internal strip-out, structural alterations, new plumbing and heating systems including an air source heat pump, underfloor heating, solar panels, full insulation, new windows and doors, drainage, patios, and a bespoke staircase.
The aim was to retain the character of the original barn while introducing modern finishes and energy-efficient systems suitable for long-term letting.
During the build, some layout adjustments were made to improve functionality and ensure compliance. These were reviewed with the client and implemented without affecting the overall direction of the project.
The completed property is now a well-finished, energy-efficient home that respects its original form while offering modern performance and comfort.
